A Financial Advisor usually gives advice or specific recommendations about investments, like what investments or mix of investments someone should have based on their age and goals. Retirement plan advisors give advice about 401(k)’s. Financial Coaches work with clients on managing their money day-to day and month-to-month—the basic stuff that people often need help with. Coaches can help clients clarify their financial goals in addition to retirement. Coaches focus on helping cleints build a better relationship with money and positive financial habits to help them reach their goals, both shorter term and longer term.

A coach will probably ask what’s prompting them to meet. They will work together to come up with a plan to address whatever the issue might be. Instead of telling them what they ‘should’ do, their coach will help them explore all of their options. Coaches can provide financial information and expertise, while they’re the expert on themselves–what matters to them, their situation, their resources. A coach is a guide to help them create their action plan to reach their goals.

Coaching focuses on helping people reach their financial goals. We start by looking at where someone is now so we can work with them to create an action plan to get them where they want to go. It’s important to have a starting point. We recommend connecting their checking account(s) in the Questis platform to get a better sense of the money they have coming in and going out every month. Connecting a checking account will automatically generate a budget for them as well. The user can also complete their profile and add their current financial priority to give their coach more context around their goals.

No, there’s no limit on the number of sessions. The coach and your employee will decide how often they need to meet and for how long. Many questions or issues can be addressed in just 1 or 2 sessions, or they might decide to meet regularly over a longer period of time. They can always come back for additional coaching, too, as new situations or issues arise.

Employees can meet with a coach via Zoom or by phone–whichever they prefer. They can also get questions answered via the chat within the platform or by email. We encourage Questis users to meet via phone or Zoom, so they can have a conversation with their coach.

Yes, we have sessions available from 9am to 9pm Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

Yes, they can. We do assign coaches to everyone when they register on the Questis platform, as a way to get started. But if they’re looking for a coach with expertise in a particular area, or if they just feel more comfortable with a different coach, it’s ok to switch. They can just schedule an appointment with the coach they’d like to work with directly from the platform.

Yes, we encourage individuals to include a spouse or partner in coaching sessions because it’s important for couples to be on the same page with their shared finances. Or older children who might have questions about paying for education can join a coaching session.
